POLYMER DEGRADATION AGING STUDIES
Polymer degradation is a change in the properties—tensile strength, color, shape of a material or product under extreme environmental conditions. The changes in properties are termed “aging” and can be studied to predict the life of the part or a component.
Polymers and Non-linear Materials:
For polymers like plastics, rubbers, and typical composites, which are viscoelastic and have time dependent mechanical properties aging studies are an effective method to understand the long term deterioration in material properties. The aging studies can be used to predict the deterioration in the performance of the part in critical applications.
